Opened my door bright and early in the morning to see this beautiful rainbow stretched across a cloud of two hearts: one a blue sky heart surrounded by a white cloud heart AND blessed from above by a DOVE cloud, wings out spread hovering high above a LAMB cloud.
Gazing at this beautiful sight, the rainbow brightened in front of my eyes, all the colors, especially the purple.
Then I suddenly realized this is the weekend of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist!
St John, at the Baptism of Jesus, called Jesus “the Lamb of God” and saw “the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.” (John 1:29-34)
Truly, a gift from the heavens.
Kind reader, I hope you can see it. Look closely. The rainbow crosses all the way from left side of cloud extending out the cloud’s right side into sky. And shining bright, crowning the top of blue-sky heart with rainbow colors.
From Genesis we know a rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant with us. “I set my rainbow in the clouds to serve as a sign of the covenant between me and the earth” (Gen 9:13)
The blue sky heart is surrounded by larger white cloud heart.
Next, I see a dove aloft atop the rainbow heart. Do you?
And of course, the gentle face of Lamb of God below the dove, “the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.” (John 1:29-34)
Lamb forms part of the larger cloud heart, which also looks like the heels of two hands together holding the blue sky heart, rainbow and dove in its hands. Actually, without the Lamb it would not be a heart.
Truer words were never spoken!
