This day, bright and early morning, opened my door to this beautiful rainbow arcing through a gigantic pure white cloud, fluffed up and filling high and wide a perfect blue sky. Quick, took a picture and just as quick, in front of my eyes a beautiful sight changed to glorious.
First, the rainbow brightened, all colors especially the purple. The cloud opened up, top of center to form a heart around blue sky – the colorful rainbow stream crowning above it.
Kind reader, I hope you can see it. Look closely. The rainbow crosses all the way from left side of cloud extending out the cloud’s right side into sky. And shining bright, crowning the top of blue-sky heart with rainbow colors.
From Genesis we know a rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant with us. “It shall come about, when I make a cloud appear over the earth, that the rainbow will be seen in the cloud, and I will remember My covenant…” (Gen 9:14-15)
The cloud had also reshaped itself to form a heart cloud around the smaller blue-sky heart, appearing to hold it in the palms of its hands. What a gift from the heavens. Wait, there’s more.
Next I saw a dove. Above the section of rainbow crowning the blue-sky heart, I saw a smaller cloud shaped like a dove hovering aloft, wings outspread.
A sign of the dove in the heavens…
Precious to me. I thought of Holy Spirit in Scripture at Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River from St John the Baptist.
“Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.” (Matthew 3:16-17)
The Blessed Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Then I remembered. We just celebrated the Nativity of John the Baptist two days ago! Immediately, I thought to look below the dove and heart for an image of the beloved Son. There it was, plain as day – at least to me – the face of a lamb.
From St John the Baptist that day when he saw Jesus approach,
“Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:30)
Scripture portrayed in the heavens. Glorious. Yes, the heavens opened, Holy Spirit in the form of a dove floating aloft above the Lamb of God joined with the sign of the Father’s covenant, rainbow in a cloud – . The Holy Trinity.
Lamb forms part of the larger cloud heart, which also looks like the palms of two hands together holding the blue sky heart, rainbow and dove in its hands. Actually, without the Lamb it would not be a heart.
Truer words were never spoken!
